On July 4th at The Magic Roundabout in London the air was filled with amazing smell of steaks from all over the world. World Steak Challenge, in which OSI POLAND FOODWORKS also participated, was to blame!
This year’s 4th edition attracted contestants from 22 countries who competed in multiple categories. Competing steaks came from 35 various cattle breeds. OSI POLAND FOODWORKS was the only contestant to submit sirloin and Rib-Eye steaks from Polish breeds: black and white Holstein-Fresian and, Polish crossbreeds of dairy cow and bull of meat breed. The objective of the event is to compare the quality of beef products on the international scene and foremost it provides an excellent opportunity to establish direct contact with consumers and helps promote beef consumption as a part of healthy, wholesome diet.
Jury used the internationally agreed strict criteria. Testing covered two areas: raw and cooked. Raw steak testing criteria were as follows: appearance, aroma, color, marbling and consistency of fat trim. Whereas cooked steaks were judged by: flavor, tenderness, succulence and again appearance and aroma.
